On January 31, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, the 13th Party Central Committee met to review and decide on personnel work.
1. The Party Central Committee considers and gives opinions on the wishes to resign from positions, resign from work and retire of Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member, member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Economic Commission and Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh is a senior official of the Party and State, with basic training, and was trusted by the Party Central Committee and the Politburo to hold a number of important leadership positions.
As Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade for the 2016-2021 term, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh has made many efforts in directing and operating the work of the industry and trade sector, achieving important results.
However, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh bears political responsibility as the leader when many violations occurred at the Ministry of Industry and Trade , many cadres and party members violated the law, were prosecuted criminally, and were subject to party and administrative disciplinary action.
Fully aware of his responsibility to the Party and the People, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh has submitted a request to resign from his assigned positions, retire from work and retire.
Mr. Phan Viet Cuong is a senior official of the Party and State, with basic training, growing up from the grassroots and was trusted by the Party Central Committee and the Politburo to hold a number of leadership positions in the locality.
As Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee for the 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 terms, Mr. Phan Viet Cuong has made many efforts in leadership and direction. However, Mr. Phan Viet Cuong bears the political responsibility of the leader when many party organizations and party members at lower levels violated the law, causing serious consequences, and were disciplined, in some cases, criminally prosecuted.
Fully aware of his responsibility to the Party and the People, Mr. Phan Viet Cuong submitted a request to resign from his assigned positions, quit his job and retire.
Pursuant to current regulations of the Party and State and considering the wishes of individuals, the Party Central Committee agreed to let Mr. Tran Tuan Anh cease to hold the position of Politburo member, member of the 13th Party Central Committee; Mr. Phan Viet Cuong cease to hold the position of member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
2. The Party Central Committee considers disciplining Mr. Tran Duc Quan, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, for the following violations: Messrs. Tran Duc Quan and Nguyen Nhan Chien have degraded in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; are negative; violate Party regulations and State laws in performing assigned duties and tasks, regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, and exemplary responsibilities.
The violations of Mr. Tran Duc Quan and Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien have caused very serious consequences, causing public outrage and negatively affecting the reputation of the Party organization and local government. Based on the content, nature, level and consequences of the violations; based on the Party's regulations, the Party Central Committee decided to expel Mr. Tran Duc Quan and Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien from the Party.
The Party Central Committee assigned the Politburo to direct relevant agencies to implement procedures according to regulations.
