Generation of billionaires "sitting in game shops"

Speaking at the opening ceremony of GM Vietnam 2025, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSI Securities Corporation, shared his perspective on the future of the economy , focusing on a new generation of leaders. He said that Vietnam is entering an era of growth, and to realize that aspiration, the country needs "citizens of the growth era".

He described this as a new generation of entrepreneurs who are younger, more daring, more technologically advanced and more global. "They are certainly not the ones who are now famous, millionaires, billionaires on the charts, not the owners of large economic corporations today," he said.

"But somewhere, those people are sitting with a computer in a garage, or even staying with their parents or sitting in a game shop, working hard every day with a computer. But they - the citizens of the new era - will be the economic pillars of Vietnam in the next 10-20 years," he affirmed.

Faced with the great potential of the new generation of entrepreneurs, the SSI chairman expressed his hope that management agencies, the Party and the State would have timely and reasonable policies to reorganize and attract young people to contribute to building the country.

"The future is not about choosing between tradition or technology, but about combining both, responsibly and transparently. Everything is looking to Vietnam – not just as an emerging market, but as a country that is reaching out to lead," Mr. Hung emphasized, saying that Vietnam is not only catching up with the world but can create unprecedented things.

"Nice digital asset terminology"

From the perspective of a management agency, Mr. Pham Tien Dung - Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam , Vice President of the National Cyber Security Association - said that he really likes the term "digital assets", instead of the word "virtual currency" that many people often use.

"The term digital assets is very good. Recognizing this as a form of asset will help avoid many legal problems, and at the same time expand the space for this asset model in Vietnam," said Mr. Dung.

According to the Deputy Governor of the State Bank, in recent times, management agencies have been gradually creating solid legal corridors for digital assets.

"This is probably the first time and Vietnam is one of the few countries that has clearly defined crypto assets, virtual assets and related issues, paving the legal way for the development of other regulations," he affirmed.

He emphasized that the concept of digital assets is understood very broadly, including both secured and unsecured digital assets. This shows an open vision in attracting entrepreneurs, businesses and investors to this new field.

Sharing with Dan Tri newspaper reporters on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Thuat Nguyen, Founder of Kyros Ventures, acknowledged that the changes in the past few years did not only come from capital or technology, but mainly from changes in awareness from both society and management agencies.

"Once labeled as sensitive, blockchain is now being called by its rightful name as a digital asset that can be owned, protected and identified within a legal framework," he said.

Mr. Thuat said that since 2022, blockchain projects founded by Vietnamese people have begun to be internationally recognized, both in terms of technology and scale. Vietnam currently possesses three special advantages: competitive costs, young human resources and high speed of adaptation.

"Universities such as Bach Khoa, FPT, RMIT... have started training in blockchain majors, while Vietnamese startups can operate global products at a fraction of the cost of competitors in Singapore or Hong Kong (China)," he cited.

From an international perspective, Ms. Virginie Barbot, Managing Director of Southeast Asia and Pacific at Nasdaq Technology, commented that digital assets and blockchain technology will play a key role in the future of the global financial market.

According to Ms. Barbot, the biggest problem that digital assets and blockchain can solve is the issue of trust and authentication, when traditional asset models require many intermediaries such as banks, notaries, etc.

According to Ms. Barbot, the most prominent advantage of digital assets and blockchain lies in the ability to solve the problem of trust and information authentication - something that traditional asset models have to rely on many intermediaries such as banks, notaries... to ensure.

Virginie Barbot envisions blockchain as a global “giant spreadsheet” where every new transaction is recorded and updated instantly, with public accessibility for all parties involved.

This mechanism creates a transparent ownership network, allowing every transaction to be verified, immutable, and minimizing dependence on traditional intermediaries.

However, Ms. Barbot also acknowledged that risks still exist, including fraud, scams and legal issues that vary from country to country. Particularly in Vietnam, she expressed confidence that the authorities are taking the right approach in regulating this new field.
