Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was elected to hold the position of Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee.

On the afternoon of October 3, at the fourth session (special session) of the People's Council of Can Tho city, term X, 2021-2026, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee, term 2021-2026.

At the meeting, the People's Council of Can Tho city dismissed Mr. Tran Van Lau from the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city.

Previously, Mr. Tran Van Lau was mobilized, transferred and appointed by the Politburo to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee and hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term I, 2025-2030.

Along with that, the People's Council of Can Tho city has presented a personnel introduction to elect the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of the city, term 2021-2026 for Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee. At the meeting, delegates voted with confidence to elect Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city with a winning rate of 95%.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen promised to make every effort, to be dedicated, to constantly cultivate, train, and strive in all aspects; to devote all his abilities, knowledge, enthusiasm, and responsibility, to join hands and unite with the Standing Committee of the People's Committee and members of the City People's Committee to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity, strictly complying with the leadership of the Central Committee and the City Party Committee, and to direct and operate in accordance with the Resolution of the City People's Council; to properly and fully perform the assigned duties, tasks, and powers; to be proactive, flexible, and creative in directing and operating, and determined to perform all tasks well.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen also hopes to continue receiving the attention, leadership and assistance of the leaders of the Party, the State, the Central Committees, ministries and branches; the close leadership of the City Party Committee, the regular supervision and support of the Standing Committee of the City People's Council, the People's Council committees and the City People's Council delegates; the effective supervision and criticism of the Fatherland Front , socio-political organizations; the consensus of the people and the business community; the attention, sharing of experiences, support and encouragement of generations of city leaders through the periods.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, born on October 25, 1969; native of Yen Phong commune, Thieu Yen district (old), Thanh Hoa province; has a Master's degree in Economics, Bachelor's degree in Accounting Economics; Senior in political theory.

He held the following positions: Deputy Director of Hau Giang Department of Finance; Deputy Chief of Office, Chief of Office of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee, Hau Giang Province; Member of the Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the former Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.

Since October 2020, he has been a member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the former Hau Giang province. On February 10, 2025, he was elected Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

At the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030 (taking place from September 26-28), the Politburo and Secretariat appointed him to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee./.
