(NLDO)- Many cars traveling on National Highway 45 - Nghi Son through Thanh Hoa had their tires explode when passing through the expansion joints that popped open.
According to the reflection of Mr. BQĐ. (from Thai Binh province), at about 5:40 p.m. on February 6, he was driving car with license plate 17A-45xx on the highway in the direction of Thanh Hoa - Ninh Binh, when reaching Km341+080 (section through Trung Chinh commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province), the car suddenly had an accident with both tires exploding.
The expansion joint on National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, passing through Trung Chinh commune, Nong Cong district, was blown off the road surface, causing a car tire to explode while passing through.
Immediately after that, Mr. D. went down to check and discovered that the expansion joint on the highway had popped open, which could have caused his car to hit the screws, leading to the tire explosion.
According to Mr. D., in addition to his car, three other cars had their tires punctured when they passed through the expansion joint that popped open. "It was dark at the time of the accident, and there was no emergency lane in this area, so I was very worried that an accident could happen because the vehicles were moving very fast," said Mr. D.
Mr. D's car tire exploded, breaking the rim.
Immediately after the incident, representatives of the National Highway 45 - Nghi Son management and operation unit quickly sent functional forces to the scene reported by Mr. D. to temporarily handle the incident.
At the same time, the unit reported to Project Management Board 2, Ministry of Transport (the unit assigned with warranty responsibility) to promptly direct the contractor to repair the damaged expansion joint position, ensuring safety for passing vehicles.
