Strive to reduce the number of cases, deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents by over 5% compared to 2023

That is the goal set at the conference to review traffic safety work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024, organized by the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee last weekend.

The report of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee stated: In 2023, the traffic order and safety situation in the province changed positively, traffic accidents were reduced compared to 2022 in all three criteria of number of cases, number of deaths, number of injuries and no particularly serious traffic accidents occurred.

Accordingly, from December 15, 2022 to December 14, 2023, there were 209 traffic accidents in the province, killing 88 people and injuring 171 people, compared to 2022, a decrease of 24 cases, 15 deaths, and 13 injuries. The traffic police force deployed 11,969 patrols and controls, detected 23,243 cases of traffic safety violations, punished 16,884 cases, and imposed fines of more than VND 57.7 billion.

To achieve that result, the provincial leaders and the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee strengthened leadership and direction, and departments, branches, People's Committees and Traffic Safety Committees of localities proactively developed plans and organized and implemented well the work of ensuring traffic order and safety.

The patrolling, control and handling of violations are regularly and continuously deployed by the authorities, in a closed area, especially on the topics of alcohol concentration, speed, and handling of violations via cameras; the traffic inspection force focuses on checking traffic safety conditions in transport business, controlling vehicle load, and managing vehicle technical. New investment in traffic infrastructure as well as maintenance and repair of traffic infrastructure are given attention to ensure the travel needs of the people...

Besides the achieved results, violations of road traffic safety laws are still quite common, especially speeding, violations of alcohol concentration regulations, driving in the wrong lane, and motorcyclists not wearing helmets.

Vehicle overload violations still occur in some localities, especially in areas with mines, minerals, factories, and construction works, leading to serious deterioration of road infrastructure, high potential for traffic accidents, and violations of road and railway safety corridors that have not been promptly and thoroughly handled. Some black spots and potential traffic accident spots arising during the exploitation process have not been promptly handled, especially at intersections at the same level with high traffic density, and traffic organization using road markings and signs.

In 2024, with the goal of reducing the number of cases, deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents by over 5% compared to 2023, focusing on ensuring security, safety of health, life and property of the people, overcoming traffic congestion, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has developed a plan to resolutely and specifically implement each task and activity in accordance with the actual conditions in the locality, agency, unit as well as disseminate and thoroughly understand the tasks to each cadre, civil servant, public employee and worker; linking the responsibility of the individual leader with the results of performing the task of ensuring traffic order and safety within the scope of functions, tasks and authority of the agencies and units performing public duties.

Strengthening the application of science and technology in ensuring traffic safety and order, first of all applying information technology in transport management and operation, monitoring, detecting and handling violations of traffic safety and order.
