The “Happy Vietnam” photo and video contest has been held for the past two years, but this is the first time “Happy Vietnam” has been approved as an annual media award on human rights.

Accordingly, the series of events, exhibitions and the "Happy Vietnam 2025" Human Rights Media Awards will be organized by the Department of Grassroots Information and External Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) from the second to fourth quarter of this year.

The award is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and Vietnam Television to implement Decision No. 1079/QD-TTg dated September 14, 2022 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on communication on human rights in Vietnam and to celebrate the country's major holidays in 2025.

In addition, the photo and video exhibition "Happy Vietnam" to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day displays and introduces award-winning works and works that entered the final round of the "Happy Vietnam" Awards held in the second quarter in Hai Phong and the third quarter in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the award announcement and launch ceremony held on May 22, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh emphasized that simple, everyday images are the most genuine and profound expression of happiness. Vietnam has made remarkable progress in the happiness index, but the numbers cannot fully reflect that spirit.

In 2025, Vietnam will make great strides in the happiness index, rising to 46th place in the world, up 8 places compared to 2024 and 19 places compared to 2023. This is an important milestone, demonstrating the world's recognition and appreciation of Vietnam's policies and achievements in ensuring human rights in recent years.

In that spirit, the award is organized with the aim of mobilizing the participation of Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. The award includes 2 categories: Photo and Video.

The general criteria for the content of the entries include: Introducing and promoting the image of the country, Vietnamese people, cultural and natural values ​​across the country; arousing national pride and aspirations for development among all classes of Vietnamese people to join hands in building an increasingly prosperous, wealthy and happy Vietnam.

Through the award, the Organizing Committee wants to convey the message that Vietnam is moving rapidly, developing strongly and comprehensively in all fields: Breakthrough in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; International integration in the new situation; Innovation in law making and enforcement; Fast, sustainable, effective and high-quality private economic development.
