Free surgery for children with cleft lip and palate in August

On July 24, the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health issued Document No. 248/SYT-DSTE to departments, branches, organizations and communes and wards of the province to inform about the registration for free surgery for children with cleft lip and cleft palate in the second phase in 2025.

Accordingly, from August 11 to 15, at Hanoi E Hospital, there will be a program of free examination, screening and surgery for children with cleft lip and cleft palate.

Children come to register for screening to select from 50 children who are qualified for free surgery, with the following criteria: children with congenital cleft lip and palate who have not had surgery (children with cleft lip must be at least 6 months old, weigh 6 kg or more; children with cleft palate must be at least 12 months old, weigh 8 kg or more); children with sequelae of congenital cleft lip and palate of all ages (lip scars, palatal holes, nasal deformities, dental arch clefts); children with extra fingers, syndactyly (hands, feet), extra cartilage in the ears (not motor deformities, clubfoot deformities, etc.).

Do not perform surgery on children with heart disease, lung disease, malnutrition, asthma, or children who are sick, have fever, infection, or other internal diseases...

Medical expenses for surgeries will be performed free of charge. In addition, children will be partially supported with travel and food expenses during their stay in the hospital.

This is a humanitarian program that has been implemented for many years and is highly appreciated by society. Successful surgery will help children overcome difficulties in eating and daily activities, bring confidence, and heal physical and mental injuries for children.
