The producer released a first look (a brief video about the movie) on the evening of April 29, opening with the scene of the enemy sweeping the South. After the bomb explosion, the scene is the underground base of the National Liberation Front soldiers of South Vietnam.
The video has a character saying: "The US shouted 'Cu Chi still exists, Saigon is lost'". The trailer ends with a scene of the bunker shaking from the sound of bombs, seemingly collapsing.
The project celebrates the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, a war film made from socialized budget. In addition to Thai Hoa, the cast includes Quang Tuan, Ho Thu Anh, Cao Minh, Diem Hang Lamoon, Hoang Minh Triet, Khanh Ly.
Director Bui Thac Chuyen said it took 10 years to prepare the project, which focuses on recreating the patriotism of the people of the South. The film took more than two months to film, including many scenes in Cu Chi. "It is hard to imagine that resilient soldiers and militia used rudimentary tools to build a dense and complex defense system underground," said Bui Thac Chuyen.

The work also marks the return of Thai Hoa after a year of great success. Last year, he won two titles for Best Actor in Film ( Con Nhót nhớp chồng ) and Television ( Me Rom ) at the Kite Awards. He also won Best Actor at the 2023 Vietnam Film Festival. The actor said he wanted to take on a "heavy" role with a lot of experience while he was still in his prime.
"There is nothing happier than completing a segment well, no matter how small. I hope the audience doesn't remember Thai Hoa, just remembering the role I played is enough to make them happy," he said.
