According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of the afternoon of October 2, the center of storm Matmo was located in the sea east of the Philippines. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8 (62-74 km/h), gusting to level 10. The storm moved west-northwest at a speed of about 25 km/h.

The name Matmo was proposed by the US hurricane forecasting agency, meaning "heavy rain". The name Matmo is on the list of storm names managed by the Hurricane Committee of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Thus, storm Matmo is now only 650km from the East Sea. Meteorological experts say that around the evening of October 3, the storm will move into the East Sea, becoming the 11th storm of the 2025 rainy season. Around October 6, the storm will directly affect the North.

Specifically, in the next 24 hours, the storm will continue to move West Northwest, at about 25km/h and is likely to strengthen. At 1pm on October 3, the center of the storm will be on the mainland north of Luzon Island (Philippines); wind speed will increase to level 9, gusting to level 11.

In the next 24 hours, the storm will maintain its direction of movement, 25-30km/h, entering the East Sea and is likely to strengthen. At 1:00 p.m. on October 4, the center of storm No. 11 Matmo was located in the eastern sea of ​​the North East Sea, about 430km northeast of Hoang Sa special zone. The storm's intensity has now increased to level 10-11, gusting to level 13.

24 hours later, the storm continued to move West Northwest, about 25km/h and was likely to strengthen. At 13:00 on October 5, the center of the storm was located on the southern coastal area of ​​Leizhou Peninsula (China), the wind speed increased to level 12, gusting to level 15.

From the next 72 to 120 hours, the storm will move in the West Northwest direction, traveling 15-20km per hour, and the storm's intensity will gradually decrease.

Due to the influence of storm Matmo, from noon and afternoon of October 3, the eastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7; then increasing to level 8-9, the area near the storm's center will have strong winds of level 10-11, gusting to level 12, waves 4-6m high. The sea will be very rough.

During October 4-5, the North East Sea area is likely to be affected by strong winds of level 11-12, gusting to level 15. Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that there is a high possibility that storm Matmo (storm No. 11) will enter the Gulf of Tonkin, affecting the mainland of the northern and north-central provinces from October 6 to 7.

Assessing the weather trend from October 1 to 10, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the Northern and North Central provinces are likely to experience a widespread heavy rain lasting from October 5 to 7, which is also the time when the circulation of storm Matmo (storm No. 11) is forecast to affect mainland Vietnam.
