Movement to protect national security in parishes and parishes

Yen Tri Parish (in Hiep Hoa Ward) is one of the parishes with the largest number of Catholics in Quang Ninh , with nearly 10,000 parishioners divided into 7 parishes. Therefore, it can be affirmed that the outstanding socio-economic development achievements of this locality in recent times have always had extremely important contributions from the vibrant patriotic emulation movements of the parishioner community, including the movement of All People Protecting National Security. In each residential group and neighborhood, there are core mass forces, actively participating in detecting, denouncing crimes, and promptly reconciling internal conflicts. Members of the parish's Executive Committee are all prestigious people, actively coordinating closely with the police force and local authorities in the tasks of propaganda and mobilizing people to eliminate social evils and build a civilized lifestyle.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia, Head of the CTMT Committee of Hiep Hoa 13 village, Hiep Hoa ward, said: The village's way of doing things is to build a residential area convention from collecting opinions from all households, from which to implement it synchronously and with high unity. This includes the content requiring each citizen and each household to have a sense of responsibility to strictly implement civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, festivals; healthy religious activities, in accordance with the law, in accordance with customs, cultural traditions... In particular, the contents of self-management of environmental sanitation, basic security and order, and traffic safety are all clearly defined in the process of organizing activities; with support and guidance from the Police, the Fatherland Front, and organizations; included in the emulation evaluation between residential groups for timely commendation and rewards.

There are currently 16 parishes and 38 sub-parishes with more than 40,000 Catholic followers in the province. The organization of religious activities and practices all comply with the law and the regulations of the Church with the motto of practicing religion closely and accompanying the nation. Dignitaries, officials and followers are increasingly closely and accompanying the local government; strictly implementing the provisions of the law. In particular, responding to the movement of All People Protecting National Security, parishes and sub-parishes have generally built and gradually expanded many effective and creative self-management models. Typical examples include "5-no parish", "Peaceful parish", "Security gong", "Advanced parish", "Security camera route", "Fire safety inter-family group"... The security and order situation at the grassroots level is maintained when Catholics actively build a cultural life, associated with activities to participate in "Prevention, detection, and denunciation of crimes and social evils", "Management, education , and reformation of criminals in families and communities"...

Contributing to promoting the spirit of actively protecting national security in parishes and parishes, we must also mention the role of the Fatherland Front and departments, branches and organizations in communes, wards and special zones. Specifically, the work of mobilizing the masses is always focused on, implemented with focus, and innovated in both content and form. Along with that is the regular attention and listening to the thoughts, aspirations and legitimate needs of the people to promptly address them in accordance with the provisions of the law. Creative models, effective practices, and typical advanced examples among the contingent of dignitaries, officials and Catholic compatriots in the whole province are also regularly recognized and commended, contributing to spreading the spirit of enthusiastic emulation and widely sharing valuable experiences.

At the end of August 2025, the Provincial Police held a conference to meet and commend outstanding Catholic dignitaries, officials, and parishioners with achievements in the movement of the People Protecting National Security in the period of 2022-2023. The opinions at the forum all acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts to maintain security, social order and safety in parishes and churches throughout the province. The Executive Committees of parishes and churches have participated in self-management and mediation teams to resolve conflicts, unite Catholics and non-Catholics; and provided valuable information to the government and police forces in the fight against and prevention of crime. In particular, they have united and raised vigilance against the destructive arguments and plots of hostile forces and bad elements.

According to statistics from the Provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee, up to now, Catholics in the province have basically no poor households. 100% of communes with Catholics have met the standards for building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas. Urban areas with a large number of Catholics are also typical examples of urban civilization movements. Many models, initiatives, and good practices have been proposed by parishes and religious communities, closely following the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local programs and tasks, in accordance with the thoughts, feelings, and religious lifestyle of Catholics.
