Donate land to open the road - open the future for development

From July 1, 2025, Trung Ha commune was established on the basis of merging the communes: Trung Tien, Trung Ha and Trung Xuan, belonging to the border district of Quan Son (old). After the new commune government comes into operation, the locality continues to implement Directive No. 24-CT/TU dated July 12, 2024 of the Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee on "The campaign for people to donate land to invest in renovating, upgrading and improving infrastructure, focusing on traffic roads in rural and urban areas in the province in a synchronous and modern direction".

At the same time, there are two rural traffic projects being implemented in the commune, so the commune has just carried out site clearance and mobilized people to donate land for expansion. The commune has deployed many forms of propaganda, and commune officials have gone to the grassroots to directly mobilize. Village officials have also actively participated, accompanying the people, explaining to the people the role of expanded roads for socio -economic development, bringing benefits to the people themselves and future generations.

Mr. Ha Cong Bang, a resident of Ba village, said: "After the government's mobilization and explanation, we clearly realized the benefits of major roads for socio-economic development. At first, some households were hesitant, but then everyone agreed. In Ba village, the land donation work has truly become a movement. Now that major roads are under construction, we see the future development of our homeland and each family right in that project."

Along with the State's investment in building traffic infrastructure, people have not spared "an inch of land, an inch of gold", donating part of their family's land to expand traffic routes, so that the large and small roads in the commune are getting longer and wider. Typically, in the two projects to renovate, upgrade and expand the road from Ba village to Ban Xanh and the road within Lang village, the entire political system in the commune has joined in. With diverse and rich propaganda and mobilization methods, many households have voluntarily participated in donating land and many assets on land to expand traffic routes. Workers in the villages where the project passes through were mobilized to participate in cutting trees, breaking down fences, dismantling constructions..., creating a vibrant movement. From a few households at first to dozens of households per village, from the movement in Lang village, it later spread to many villages in the commune.

Achievements from promoting democracy, openness and transparency

Statistics from the People's Committee of Trung Ha commune show that from mid-July 2025 to now, the whole commune has had nearly 200 households voluntarily donating about 5,000 square meters of land and many assets on the land to renovate, upgrade and expand roads. Although the local residents are mostly Thai people, people's lives are still difficult, their income mainly depends on agricultural production, but the spirit of dedication, for the common task of building new rural areas of the locality is still very high. Many households in the commune donated from 50 to more than 100 square meters of land and dozens of trees. After voluntarily donating land, households also spent their own money to renovate their houses and fences.

As a result of the land donation, the locality and related units have expanded the roads with a total length of more than 1.7km. The main road was expanded to 9m, of which 4.5m of the roadbed was poured with solid concrete, the rest was sidewalks and drainage ditches. In addition, local people also planted flowers and ornamental plants on both sides of the newly expanded traffic routes. In Ba and Xanh villages, people also demolished corrugated iron roofs, fences, and moved trees to expand the 3.5km road. Since then, the road surface of this route has been raised to 8m, of which the 4.5m roadbed is paved with asphalt.

"The key point that helped the campaign to donate land for road construction in Trung Ha achieve high results is that the locality has promoted democracy. All project information is public and transparent; the locality organized meetings with people, listened to the opinions, thoughts and aspirations of the people. For households that did not agree, the government coordinated with the Party cell, combined with prestigious people in the community to actively persuade and analyze for people to understand" - Mr. Lu Van Ha, Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Ha commune shared.

Before merging into a new commune, the leaders of the old Trung Ha commune also directly attended meetings with the Party cells of the villages, identified each road that needed to be expanded to come up with solutions, closely followed the locality to grasp the thoughts and aspirations, and persuaded the people to believe and follow. At the same time, "went to every alley, knocked on every door" to propagate the purpose, meaning, and practical benefits for the people when expanding the road. That was the premise for the process of mobilizing land donation to expand the road in the new Trung Ha commune to inherit and promote the results.

From 2021 up to now, with flexible methods, the people of Trung Ha commune have donated over 2 hectares of land of various types, about 15,000 trees of various types along with many valuable constructions, fences, roofs, and architectural objects attached to the land to expand rural roads.
