On the morning of March 26, within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam, Ms. Loo Tze Lui, wife of the Prime Minister of Singapore, and Ms. Le Thi Bich Tran, wife of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, visited the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.

The museum consists of 3 exhibition areas: Exhibition area about ethnic groups in Vietnam, outdoor exhibition area (Architectural garden) and exhibition area about ethnic groups in Southeast Asia.

At the museum, the two ladies learned about the rich and diverse cultural values ​​at the exhibition area of ​​Vietnamese ethnic cultures, the Folk Architecture Garden and the Southeast Asia exhibition.

At the Bronze Drum building, the Singaporean Prime Minister's wife was given a brief introduction to the Vietnamese ethnic groups with their unique characteristics in costumes, musical instruments, farming tools, daily necessities, crafts, rituals, etc.

The two ladies had an interesting experience like a journey from North to South, discovering ethnic groups: Viet - Muong, Tay - Thai, Kadai, H'mong - Dao, Han - Tibetan, Mon - Khmer, Austronesian.

The two ladies visited the museum's Architectural Garden.

At the Architectural Garden in the spacious outdoor space, the two ladies admired the restored folk architectural works of many regions. The houses and architecture reflect the diversity of techniques as well as folk knowledge, while recreating the lifestyle associated with the ecological regions and historical-cultural areas of the ethnic groups in Vietnam.

Next, the two ladies watched the artisans making Dong Ho paintings, one of the famous Vietnamese folk paintings. Lady Le Thi Bich Tran presented the painting “The Buffalo Herder Playing the Flute” to Lady Loo Tze Lui.

The two ladies also watched the traditional hat making craft of Chuong village (Hanoi). Mrs. Le Thi Bich Tran introduced to Mrs. Loo Tze Lui the conical hats painted with lotus flowers - a typical flower of Vietnam, or the conical hats painted with colorful brocade of ethnic groups.

The Muong ethnic people presented traditional brocade costumes to the two ladies and introduced the unique features of the costumes.

In traditional concept, brocade is a symbol of wealth, prosperity and abundance. The quantity and quality of brocade products in a family shows the status and success of the owner. For Muong women, weaving skills and owning sophisticated brocade products are considered a measure of value, ingenuity and diligence.

The two ladies were introduced to the brocade weaving craft of the Muong ethnic group.

Mrs. Le Thi Bich Tran and Mrs. Loo Tze Lui then enjoyed traditional art with smooth Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk songs such as: Invite water, invite betel; along with a medley of Singaporean songs...

Quan Ho Bac Ninh artists sing the song "Inviting water and betel" to welcome the two ladies.
