Vietnam Women's Golden Ball joins Thai Nguyen T&T

Goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh signed a two-year contract with Thai Nguyen T&T women's club today, March 14.

Kim Thanh's contract with Ho Chi Minh City Club ended and was not renewed. She moved to Thai Nguyen T&T with a two-year contract.

Kim Thanh was born in 1993, joined the first team of Ho Chi Minh City in 2010, and was called up to the national women's team four years later. She has won every title from the National Cup, National Championship, SEA Games gold medal and AFF Cup championship. Kim Thanh is also a pillar of the Vietnamese women's team at the 2023 World Cup, where this goalkeeper impressed with a diving save to block a penalty kick from American superstar striker Alex Morgan in the opening match.

Impressive performance at the World Cup and SEA Games last year helped Kim Thanh win the race for the Golden Ball 2023. At today's contract signing ceremony, Thai Nguyen T&T awarded her 50 million VND for the above achievement.

Joining Thai Nguyen T&T with Kim Thanh today are Bich Thuy and Tran Thi Thu. The contracts of these two players are also for two years.

At the end of 2019, the Thai Nguyen women's football team was at risk of disbanding due to lack of operating funds. The team then received sponsorship from T&T Group and "transformed". In 2022, Thai Nguyen T&T made history in Vietnamese football when it made the first transfer of female players with a signing bonus with Nguyen Thi My Anh, Le Hoai Luong and Tran Thi Kim Anh.

"These contracts will create a boost for training. Young players see their future in such contracts. That is what women's football needs to create fundamental, long-term development. When female players can make a living from their career and, even better, get rich from football, we believe that many families will not object to their children pursuing a football career," said Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy General Director of T&T Group Do Vinh Quang at the announcement ceremony of the three national team players today.

Thai Nguyen T&T finished fifth in the 2023 national championship. But after recruiting Kim Thanh, Bich Thuy and Tran Thi Thu, the team aims to compete for the championship in the new season.
