On June 2, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu signed Official Dispatch No. 4877 requesting the Ministry of Planning and Investment to organize an international conference on the East-West Economic Corridor route through the Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc International Border Gate pair (Sekong, Laos).

Accordingly, the organization of the workshop aims to widely collect opinions from central ministries, branches, economic research institutes, state management agencies, specialized management agencies, provincial authorities in the Southern Laos region, the Northeast region of Thailand, the Central Highlands - Central Key Economic Zone,... on the potential, advantages, position, and important role of the East-West Economic Corridor route through the Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc international border gate pair.

At the same time, it promotes socio-economic development, meets the requirements for customs clearance of goods from Northeastern Thailand, the provinces of Southern Laos - the key economic region of the Central region; creates a tourism development corridor from Ubon Ratchat Thani (Thailand) to Quang Nam province, Da Nang city, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Ngai (Vietnam).

From there, to have a plan to invest in regional transport infrastructure to develop appropriately and promptly in order to effectively exploit potentials and strengths and enhance investment, trade, tourism and service cooperation through the East-West Economic Corridor road route to develop the socio-economy of relevant parties associated with the socio-economic development of the western Quang Nam region.

With the theme "International workshop on the East-West Economic Corridor route through the Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc international border gate pair, potential and development opportunities", the workshop is scheduled to be held on September 27, 2024, with the presence of leaders of the Government Committee of 4 Southern Lao provinces; representatives of the leadership of the Government Committee of Ubon Ratchat Thani province (Thailand), the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tourism Association of Ubon Ratchat Thani province; leaders of relevant central ministries and branches of Vietnam and Quang Nam province...
