Quang Ninh maintains sustainable economic growth

In the first half of 2024, the context is more difficult and challenging than favorable. Continuing the double-digit growth momentum for 9 consecutive years (2015-2023), Quang Ninh province maintains a stable development momentum, GRDP reaches 9.02% and is among the leading provinces in the country.

In the first 6 months of 2024, Quang Ninh welcomed over 10.4 million tourists, contributing to a 13.85% growth in the service sector.

At the end of the first 6 months of 2024, Quang Ninh's economic growth rate (GRDP) reached 9.02%, among the leading provinces in the country. Of which, services increased the highest at 13.85%, 2.12% higher than the same period in 2023. Next is the industrial and construction sector, despite many difficulties in the market, prices, raw materials, reduced purchasing power... but still increased by 7.68%. Notably, the key sectors of the industrial sector such as mining, electricity and gas, processing and manufacturing industries all increased compared to the growth scenario. Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry continued to play the role of the main driving force, increasing by 23.05%, contributing 2.9 points to GRDP growth.

It can be seen that these are great efforts of Quang Ninh, when in the first half of 2024, the domestic economy was affected by many impacts, prices fluctuated strongly... Under the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, the efforts of departments, branches, localities, people and business community, Quang Ninh has persistently implemented the goal of sustainable development, green growth and inclusiveness. The province focuses on improving the quality of economic growth, maximizing potential, strengths and internal resources to actively transform development methods; resolutely restructure the economy, promote in-depth development; promote restructuring, improve productivity, quality, efficiency, autonomy, adaptability and competitiveness of the economy.

In line with Resolution No. 20-NQ/TU (dated November 27, 2023) of the Provincial Party Committee on the direction and tasks for 2024 and the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council, from the beginning of the year, local Party committees, authorities, departments and branches have promptly developed plans, clearly defined specific goals and tasks for each field to have solutions to ensure growth. At the same time, focusing on growth pillars is: Rapidly increasing the scale and proportion of contribution to GRDP and budget revenue of the processing and manufacturing industry associated with improving the efficiency of attracting new-generation FDI investment; maintaining stability, reasonable and sustainable development of the coal and electricity industries; developing modern comprehensive services to play an increasingly leading role; tourism becoming a key economic sector associated with the development of the marine economy, deeply participating in the global value chain; speeding up the implementation and disbursement of public investment capital.

Provincial leaders presented flowers to congratulate representatives of Foxconn Group at the ceremony to grant Investment Registration Certificates to implement two projects with a total capital of 551 million USD.

To effectively implement the goals, tasks and plans, Quang Ninh always agrees that people's resources are important. On that basis, in most socio-economic development activities, the province always takes people as the subject, center, goal and destination of the development process; focuses on solving 3 core issues of people's interests: People's livelihood, people's knowledge and democracy... thereby quickly building trust and happiness among the people, accompanying the province to overcome difficulties and complete the assigned tasks.

Entering the implementation of the tasks for the last 6 months of the year, the stage of completing the plan for the whole year 2024 with the target of GRDP growth of over 10%, a full decade of double-digit growth in Quang Ninh, the province frankly acknowledged and analyzed in depth the good and bad aspects to overcome and maintain the growth momentum. In the implementation process, continue to inherit, promote and create existing and future advantages to effectively exploit potentials, strengths, resources, promote in-depth and sustainable development.

In particular, priority is given to the following driving forces: Industrial parks, economic zones; heritage economy; urban economy, digital economy; people's and business community's trust; dynamism, innovation, effectiveness and efficiency of the public sector, ensuring long-term growth goals. At the same time, maximizing the synchronous and modern transport infrastructure system, promoting inter-regional and international cooperation and connectivity; deepening and improving the quality and effectiveness of administrative reforms, improving the investment and business environment, enhancing provincial competitiveness; building trust and consensus from people and businesses, accompanying the province to implement development goals.

With proactiveness and clear identification of difficulties to overcome, Quang Ninh's GRDP in 2024 will meet expectations, making an important contribution to completing the goals and targets of the whole year and the goals and targets of the whole term.
