Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang and Provincial People's Committee Chairman Tran Phong directly went to the scene, directing rescue forces to mobilize maximum human resources and means, closely coordinating with Military Region 4 and the National Search and Rescue Department to expand the search area at sea, on shore and in the air.
According to the agreed plan, the rescue team used an excavator to break the ship's roof, then used a specialized crane to pull the pieces of the hull apart with cables, creating conditions to access the ship's interior, where the crew members were likely trapped. However, the work encountered many obstacles as the ship's hull was buried deep in sand, and large waves continuously hindered the approach.
In parallel with the salvage work, the authorities organized a large-scale search, and at the same time exploited information from the black box of the missing ship to assist in locating the victims. Local authorities and mass organizations also sent staff to directly encourage and support the families of the missing crew members, share their difficulties and urgently provide relevant information to serve the search work.
Previously, on the evening of September 28, two fishing boats numbered BV-92756-TS and BV-92754-TS, carrying a total of 13 crew members, were anchored to avoid the storm in the Gianh bridge area when they suddenly broke their anchor, were swept away by large waves and sank. Four crew members were lucky to swim to shore safely, the remaining 9 are still missing.
By the evening of September 29, the authorities of Quang Tri province continued to make their utmost efforts to salvage the ship in distress and search for the missing crew members, determined to soon bring the victims back to their families.
