Quyen Linh returns to the big screen

Artist Quyen Linh plays a single father raising his child in the movie "Hai Muoi", after 20 years of stopping acting.

The work marks the actor's return since When men get pregnant (2004, produced by Phuoc Sang). Quyen Linh said he accepted to participate in the new project because of his long-standing friendship with director - artist Vu Thanh Vinh, and at the same time, he was impressed by the story about father and daughter love. "I see myself in the character of Mr. Hai, because I also have two daughters who are at the age of eating and studying", the artist said at the film's premiere on the morning of August 2 in Ho Chi Minh City.

To create a realistic image as the director's criteria, the artist did not wear makeup but grew a beard and hair for six months. He asked his wife - Ms. Da Thao - and children to come up with a diet rich in vegetables, applying it to reduce from over 100 kg to 70 kg. The actor went to Thieng Lieng island (Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City) to learn about the life of salt farmers, and learned the experience of transforming into the role of a man who makes a living by making salt.

The work was released on September 2nd holiday, coinciding with Get rich with ghosts - Hoai Linh and Tuan Tran's films. Quyen Linh said he was not afraid of the comparisons between the two films, believing that each project targets a different audience. The script revolves around Mr. Hai - a single father who raises his children as a salt maker in Thieng Lieng island hamlet. Life is difficult, and his family has often fallen into a deadlock. When his daughter - Muoi (Huynh Bao Ngoc) grows up and goes to the city to study at university, the conflict between Mr. Hai and his daughter gradually breaks out due to the daughter's "escape from poverty" viewpoint. The director said that the crew spent six months surveying and constructing the scene to recreate the image of the salt village. The film also has the participation of artists Hong Van, Viet Anh, Cong Ninh, Minh Luan, Tran Kim Hai, Huynh Bao Ngoc, Tu Tri, and Nam Cha.
