Million dollar initiative of young master

Tears when the initiative is successful

Hundreds of workers at Vietsovpetro port are welding, assembling, and painting the final stages of the BK rig base, one of many international deepwater drilling projects off the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland.

In his sweat-soaked, fiery-colored uniform, Nguyen Van Dac smiled and boasted that to keep up with the schedule, his brothers had to work in shifts, rain or shine.

"Sea projects of international strategic importance must be constructed in a special and urgent manner without delay," Dac said.

During a short break, Dac talked about taking advantage of research time to find ideas to streamline production and apply them to work.

Coming from the automation major of the University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Nguyen Van Dac joined Vietsovpetro in 2006, working at the Electromechanical Enterprise.

There was a lot of work, but the old equipment was somewhat degraded, which made Dac ask the question: "How can we reduce working days, minimize manual labor and fix machine errors while still achieving high economic efficiency?"

Passion for science since his student days has urged the young engineer to explore. Initiatives were born one after another, among which the initiative "Using PVC-521B control valve with a reasonable control program to provide stable oil gas input to low-pressure air compressors installed at MSP-9 and MSP-4 of Bach Ho field" is the project that he is most satisfied with.

From the general policy of the Party and the State to pay attention to innovation and development of science and technology, at Vietsovpetro there is also a resolution on promoting initiatives, inventions, technical improvements and rationalization of production in each stage. That is also the wind that blows the fire of passion, creating a place for the young team who love creativity to show their talent.

Based on his work experience, Dac said he assigned himself the task of "working during the day and researching documents at night" with the determination to produce a masterpiece.

The result after many sleepless nights is the first initiative "Upgrading the control system of the Ingersoll Rand air compressor, using a common inverter system and PLC to replace the specialized inverter and control system".

"The air compressor ran smoothly without any errors on the first day of operation, I was so happy that I cried. The leader praised me, my colleagues congratulated me, and someone hugged me, making me so happy, it also motivated me to continue researching other things, and also to unleash my creativity," Mr. Dac shared.

I am happy not because I am praised or honored but because I have space to contribute and indulge my passion at the unit. That passion flows like blood in me and never stops.

Passion never ends

Dac's phone holds many memorable photos. That is the photo of him and his colleagues receiving third prize at the 17th National Technical Innovation Contest in Hanoi for the topic "Converting the control system and load and angle reporting for Demag cranes of the Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro)".

For him, the award is a measure of dedication, but more importantly, it contributes to improving production quality and saving thousands of working days.

Evaluating these achievements, the Vietsovpetro Innovation Council commented that among hundreds of initiatives, inventions, solutions, and scientific topics of many individuals and groups, the scientific topics of Master Nguyen Van Dac are of high quality, successfully applied to production labor, bringing many values to Vietsovpetro.

Mr. Dac himself is considered by everyone to be a man of few words, many actions, and always uses creative efficiency as a measure. He is also one of the typical examples in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style in the unit.

Workers at Vietsovpetro are living in a competitive atmosphere to improve the quality of innovations and rationalize production towards welcoming the Vietsovpetro Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Among the many contributions of more than 7,000 officers and employees of the unit searching for "black gold" for the Fatherland, there is the young master Nguyen Van Dac who still quietly searches in a small room after each working day to reach the destination of new topics and initiatives originating from the daily work requirements.

13 years as a grassroots emulation fighter

In recognition of his work achievements and silent dedication, Master Nguyen Van Dac was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter by the General Director of Vietsovpetro Joint Venture for the past 13 years.

He was also honored by the Central Youth Union as "National Excellent Young Worker", received the emulation soldier award at the ministerial level, a certificate of merit from the Minister of Industry and Trade for many years, and a certificate of recognition for creative labor...

Affirming intelligence and spirit of dedication

After the first initiative coded "3151/VSP", Mr. Nguyen Van Dac continued to launch the initiative "Research and upgrade the control system to monitor the vacuum drying station". Among many initiatives and inventions that were successfully applied, bringing in nearly 1 million USD in profit to Vietsovpetro, the initiative "Converting the control system and load and angle reporting for Demag cranes of the Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro)" was assessed as "affirming the intellectual quality, passion for science and spirit of dedication".

This initiative won the first prize at the 2023 Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province Technical Innovation Contest (old) and the third prize at the 17th National Technical Innovation Contest (2022-2023) awarded by the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technical Innovation (Vifotec) in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Youth Union in 2024 in Hanoi.
