According to information from the Civil Defense, PCTT and TKCN Command of Phu Tho province, from July 21 to the morning of July 23, due to the impact of storm No. 3, many areas in the province had heavy rain, causing water to seep deep into the ground, increasing the risk of landslides. By 8:30 this morning (July 23), according to records in Duc Nhan commune, 2 inter-hamlet roads had ^1,000m3 of landslides spilled onto the road surface, causing traffic congestion.

In Pa Co commune, the situation is even more worrying. Four households in Hang Kia hamlet had large rocks rolled down from the slope of Highway DH.65 right next to their houses. Mr. Vang A De shared his worries: My house is right under the road, rocks as big as a coffee table rolled down less than 5m from my house. Now every time it rains, I shiver, not knowing when it will roll again. If we evacuate, we are worried about our house, but if we stay, we are afraid of danger to our lives.

According to comrade Tran Van Truyen - Chairman of Pa Co Commune People's Committee: To ensure safety, the Commune People's Committee has mobilized households with houses in areas at risk of landslides to temporarily relocate to relatives' houses to ensure safety. As for the DH.65 route, the commune has mobilized forces to clear soil and rocks to temporarily open traffic. However, if the rain continues, the possibility of further landslides is very high.

According to forecasts, there will continue to be rain in the province in the coming time, so the risk of landslides is still unpredictable.

Not only on DH.65 route but also on the inter-commune road connecting Hang Kia hamlet (Pa Co) with Ta De hamlet in Van Ho commune ( Son La ) there was a landslide at Km 0+900, causing complete blockage. In Quy Duc commune, heavy rain and storms caused a house wall to collapse due to soil from the positive slope collapsing. In addition, another household had cracks in the wall and floor of the house due to subsidence from the negative slope.

In Mai Ha commune, the authorities urgently evacuated 13 households in areas at high risk of landslides to safety. Among them, 12 households were in Thanh Mai hamlet and 1 household was in Lau hamlet. In Minh Dai commune, 4 households had their houses flooded by rocks and soil...

On July 23, according to reports from communes and wards, after the recent storm, dozens of large and small landslides appeared in the whole province, hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil slid down onto roads and residential areas. Local authorities in the whole province evacuated 719 households in areas at risk of landslides, flash floods and flash floods to safety.

Comrade Nguyen Hung Son - Chief of Office of the Civil Defense, PCTT and TKCN Command of Phu Tho province said: After storm No. 3 with heavy rainfall, some areas have reached a state of saturation (over 85%). This reduces the binding force of soil and rock, making the risk of landslides extremely high. Especially in mountainous areas and residential areas at the foot of the hills.

According to the latest announcement of Phu Tho Province Hydrometeorological Station at 3:30 p.m. on July 23, it is forecasted that in the next 24 to 48 hours, due to the influence of the active tropical convergence zone, from tonight (July 23) to the afternoon of July 25, there will continue to be showers and thunderstorms in the province. Locally, there will be heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 20mm to 70mm. Some places will have rainfall of over 100mm. Locally heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on small rivers and streams.

Along with that, continue to propagate and guide people to recognize signs before landslides occur such as: cracked soil, unusual water seepage, scattered rolling rocks... to proactively evacuate in time.
