208 km of main highway will be completed on August 19

The Ministry of Construction plans to complete about 733 km of expressways from now until the end of the year; of which, on August 19, it will put into operation about 208 km of the main route of 6 expressway projects: Vung Ang - Bung, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, Van Phong - Nha Trang, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, bringing the total number of expressways nationwide to 2,476 km.

Of the 733 km of expressways, 11 projects are managed by localities and 14 projects are managed by the Ministry of Construction .

Currently, some projects are still slow in progress, such as: Component Project 3, 5 of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, Component Project 1 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang .

The Ministry of Construction has requested competent authorities to closely follow the implementation progress, continue to direct investors and contractors to organize construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams", proactively remove difficulties, apply technical solutions to optimize construction time, and ensure completion in 2025.

Also on August 19, the Ministry of Construction continued to carry out procedures to start construction of 3 expressway projects with a total length of 302 km, including the Dau Giay - Tan Phu project, component project 3 of Hanoi Ring Road 4 and component project 1 Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh.

Regarding the operation of expressways, the Ministry of Construction will coordinate with localities to speed up site clearance, construction of rest stops, traffic monitoring systems, toll collection, vehicle load control, and ensure that projects put into operation must be synchronous, high-quality, and aesthetically pleasing.

According to the report of the Ministry of Construction, for projects under the State Steering Committee for important national works and projects, key to the transport sector, there are 37 projects with 95 component projects; of which, there are 35 projects in the road sector and 2 projects in the aviation sector.

Accordingly, by the end of June, 5 expressway projects with a total length of 271 km had been started. In the aviation sector, Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 was put into operation.

At the online conference to review the work of the first 6 months of 2025 of the State Steering Committee for important national works and projects, key to the transport sector and to review the peak emulation period "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000 km of expressways", the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction and localities to review the connecting traffic system to ensure the most convenient connection of expressways with economic centers, railway stations, seaports, airports...

With the groundbreaking and inauguration of major projects, the whole country on August 19 will have 2,476 km of highways and 1,397 km of coastal roads (exceeding the plan of 1,000 km); it is expected that by the end of the year, the plan set by the 13th Congress will be completed and exceeded, that the whole country will have at least 3,000 km of highways and 1,000 km of coastal roads (can reach nearly 2,000 km), basically completing Long Thanh airport; creating momentum, creating force, creating position to enter a new era with the country.
