Dance shows in Vietnam still have no "place to survive"

Dance game shows have been released sporadically in Vietnam for many years. However, most of them “die young” after one or two seasons.

When it comes to the first famous dance game show in our country, we must mention “Dancing with the Stars” when it aired on VTV in 2010. At that time, the audience was attracted by the new and unique format and the appearance of popular Vietnamese showbiz artists when combining with foreign dancers. After 7 seasons, the program officially said goodbye in 2016.

Remember at that time, the success of "Dancing with the Stars" made the children's version called "Dancing with the Stars Kids" equally popular.

In addition to “Dancing with the Stars”, in 2012, the highly rated dancing show “So You Think You Can Dance” was also launched. However, after these game shows stopped broadcasting, many other dance and choreography programs were launched. However, their appeal and longevity were still not as good as the above mentioned game shows.

Most recently, the game show “Street Dance Queen” (original title: Street Woman Fighter) - a reality TV show whose copyright was purchased by Vietnam from Korea, aired on July 27 on HTV7, despite having prominent guests such as Diep Lam Anh and Hari Won, has not yet created a strong attraction with the audience.

Other game shows such as: Vietnam's best dance crew, Dance Arena, Street dance Vietnam - This is street dancing... have not had much of an impact or explosive media effect.

There are not many dance game shows at the present time, only a few still make efforts to maintain. The number of newly launched dance game shows that impress the audience is even rarer for many reasons. Among them, the fact that dance game shows have to compete fiercely with comedy shows, music shows, reality TV shows is the main reason, making the existence of playgrounds for dancers, dance lovers, choreography... difficult to survive.

In the midst of the "mushrooming" of game shows, even popular shows like Rap Viet, The Face, Masked Singer... have now lost their appeal because there is not much novelty left for the audience. So it can be seen that if dance shows do not innovate, it will be difficult to survive and compete with other shows.

In reality, Vietnamese audiences are still not interested in dance and choreography game shows. To attract more love and interest from the audience in this genre is a big challenge for game show producers at the present time.
