Reigning world No. 1 Jannik Sinner has qualified for the 2025 Wimbledon final after a convincing 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over legend Novak Djokovic in the semi-final late on July 11 (Vietnam time).
Against a Djokovic who was not in the best shape due to the effects of injury from the quarterfinal match with Flavio Cobolli, Sinner completely overwhelmed him with his speed, precision and comprehensive defense. The Italian player controlled the game from his serve to his powerful forehand and backhand, making it almost impossible for his Serbian opponent to keep up with the pace of the match.
Djokovic only really made a mark at the beginning of the third set when he got the first break of the match. However, the ATP No. 1 seed's courage and youth were quickly shown when he immediately counterattacked, getting two consecutive breaks to neatly end the match after less than 2 hours of play.
This victory helps Sinner reach the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career, the 5th Grand Slam final of his career. At the same time, he also became the fourth player in history to beat Djokovic on all three surfaces (grass, clay and hard) at the ATP Tour level, after Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray.
This is also Sinner's 5th consecutive win over Djokovic, and 9th consecutive set win over the Serbian player.
Sinner followed in the footsteps of his seniors to defeat Djokovic on three different surfaces.
As for Djokovic, this defeat ended his streak of 6 consecutive Wimbledon finals, including 4 consecutive championships from 2018 to 2022. The last two times, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz.
The 2025 Wimbledon final will be an exciting rematch between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz (who beat Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6)). This is the pair of fierce rivals who created a dramatic final at Roland Garros not long ago, where Alcaraz won after 5 sets.
