On the afternoon of October 1, Jannik Sinner affirmed his strength when he was crowned China Open 2025 with an overwhelming 2-0 (6-2, 6-2) victory over young Vietnamese tennis player Learner Tien.
The title is the Italian's third of the season and his second in Beijing, bringing his career total to 21 ATP Tour titles.
Sinner quickly took control in the final. With powerful drives from the back of the court, a versatile return of serve, and a 73% win rate at the net, the Italian left his 19-year-old opponent with little room to fight back.
Young Vietnamese tennis player Learner Tien lost the break in the first game, made many double faults and was helpless against the strong attacks of his opponent. After 72 minutes, Sinner closed the match to win the championship without losing a set throughout the tournament.
The victory also helped the world No. 2 close the gap on Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP Live Race to Turin. Alcaraz's withdrawal from the Shanghai Masters further opened up opportunities for Sinner to accumulate points, aiming to end the year as world No. 1.
Meanwhile, Tien, despite his failure, his journey to compete and reach his first ATP final has brought him to world number 36, the highest milestone in his young career.
Previously, the Vietnamese talent caused a stir when he defeated Daniil Medvedev and Lorenzo Musetti in turn, and also took a great opportunity to participate in the Next Gen ATP Finals.
