Vientiane Department of Health and Sa Pa Regional Medical Center share experiences in disease prevention and control

On the morning of September 25, a working delegation of the Department of Health of Vientiane province (Lao People's Democratic Republic) led by Ms. Van Pheng Phanthanalai, Director of the Department, had a working session with the Sa Pa Regional Medical Center (Lao Cai Department of Health).

At the working session, leaders of the two sides exchanged and shared experiences in monitoring and responding to infectious diseases and medical emergencies, and discussed hospital management and the application of information technology in public health care.

Recently, Sa Pa Regional Medical Center has proactively developed a plan to prevent and control the epidemic; advised the Town People's Committee to issue decisions to establish or temporarily suspend medical quarantine checkpoints and mobile medical stations at each level.

The Center has directed the synchronous implementation of the five strategic principles of "prevention - detection - isolation - localization - epidemic suppression and effective treatment"; completed mobile epidemic prevention and control teams to the grassroots level with the motto "going to every alley, knocking on every door"; organized large-scale sample collection, timely isolation, treatment, and prevention of epidemic spread. The focus is on dangerous and emerging diseases such as monkeypox, influenza A (H5N1, H7N9, H10N8), measles, rabies, dengue fever, etc.

The two sides discussed experiences in monitoring and responding to medical emergencies.

The unit also promotes the application of information technology, establishes a technology support team for epidemic prevention and control; propagates and mobilizes people to declare their health electronically, scan QR codes to control entry and exit, trace movements, and update vaccination certificates. At the same time, it increases the provision of health communication documents and messages at schools, markets, hotels, restaurants, tourism businesses, and crowded entertainment areas.
