From textbooks, notebooks, school bags, backpacks to school clothes… the goods are not only rich in design, but also full of promotions, making the market at the beginning of the new school year more vibrant and colorful.

The basic price is stable, ranging from 250,000 - 450,000 VND/set depending on the grade level." Unlike previous years, this year the textbook market recorded careful preparation very early. According to the Vietnam Education Publishing House, more than 160 million copies of books have been printed, of which more than 100 million copies have been shipped as of mid-July. The three main book sets including "Connecting knowledge with life", "Canh Dieu" and "Creative horizon" continue to be maintained, with no changes in the new general education program.

Along with the demand for books, a series of stationery products "reigned". Colorful notebooks, pens, pencils, and pencil boxes printed with vivid cartoons are displayed eye-catchingly. At bookstores such as Fahasa, Dong Ho, Phuong Nam, Vietnamese goods account for 80% of the market share, coming from reputable brands such as Thien Long, Hong Ha, Hai Tien... Prices of items are relatively stable, notebooks range from 7,000 - 16,000 VND/book; pencils and pens from 3,000 - 40,000 VND/piece. School backpacks cost from 150,000 - 400,000 VND, high-end models can cost up to 1.5 million VND, depending on the material and features.

“Buy your school bag, notebooks, and books early to avoid the crowds and choose the items that are more suitable for you,” said Tran Thao Nguyen (6th grade student at Chu Van An Secondary School, Rach Gia Ward), after choosing a multi-purpose backpack for 466,000 VND.

Along with product diversification, bookstore chains such as Fahasa, Phuong Nam, Dong Ho... have all launched back-to-school promotion programs. Many items are discounted from 10% - 50%. When purchasing a complete set of textbooks or an order of 300,000 VND or more, customers will receive a ruler, label paper, timetable or student notebook. "Currently, school supplies are discounted from 10% - 40%. In addition, Fahasa Kien Giang also has a lucky draw program for customers who purchase from 500,000 VND or more. In particular, if the bill has Japanese products or Manga stories, there will be an additional round of drawing" - Mr. Tran Son Tung shared.

According to some bookstores, the period from mid-July to early August 2025 will be the peak shopping season for the new school year. Bookstores will offer an additional 10% discount on student notebooks to stimulate consumption.

At the shops in the center of Rach Gia ward as well as the commune markets in the province, this year's school uniforms are displayed eye-catchingly, with many improved designs. White shirts, trousers, and pleated skirts are made of absorbent, wrinkle-resistant fabric, with many sizes and a guide to choosing the right size according to age. Some high-end models also have anti-wrinkle and anti-sweat features.

While choosing a uniform for her daughter at Kim Thanh store on Le Loi street, Rach Gia ward, Ms. Le Thu Ha said: “The price of ready-made uniforms ranges from 99,000 - 200,000 VND/set, depending on the material, so it is easy to buy. Children grow up quickly, so the quality is just moderate, they can be changed after one year of wearing.”
