Titled "Those Who Take, Not Make," Oxfam's latest report shows that the world's billionaires' wealth increases by $5.7 billion every day, according to The Guardian .

At this rate, the world is on track to see five trillion-dollar billionaires within a decade, compared to last year's prediction of one trillion-dollar billionaire in the same period.

Globally, the number of billionaires will increase by 204 to 2,769 by 2024. Their total wealth will increase from $13,000 to $15,000 billion in 12 months.

The world's 10 richest people's fortunes increased by an average of nearly $100 million a day, and even if they lost 99% of their wealth overnight, they would still be billionaires.

The wealth of the richest 1% of Americans increased by 2,000 billion USD

At the same time, the number of people living below the poverty line, as defined by the World Bank as $6.85 a day (VND 174,000), has remained virtually unchanged since 1990, and is close to 3.6 billion people (equivalent to 44% of the current global population).

Also according to Oxfam, 1 in 10 women live in extreme poverty (under 2.15 USD/day), meaning the number of women in poverty is 24.3 million higher than men in the same situation.

The report was released as many world leaders, business leaders and the super-rich traveled to Davos (Switzerland) to attend the annual World Economic Forum from January 20.

Oxfam’s announcement of billionaire wealth coincides with Donald Trump’s inauguration as US President. Trump’s cabinet is expected to include billionaires, including Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.
