However, billiards fans also have reason to regret not being able to witness the genius Frederic Caudron compete at the 2025 Bogota World Cup.

The Belgian player shared: “Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup in Bogota due to health reasons. Hopefully, I will have other opportunities in 2025.” It is still not known exactly what health problems Frederic Caudron has. But it cannot be denied that age (Caudron was born in 1968) has significantly affected the professional competition of the player nicknamed billiards genius.

Before officially returning to his "old home" UMB (World Carom Billiards Federation) in May 2024 (World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City), Frederic Caudron also underwent surgery.

Can't find the peak at UMB

Before joining the Korean Professional Billiards Association (PBA) in 2019, Frederic Caudron was one of the most successful players at UMB. The Belgian player has 21 World Cup titles (behind only Torbjorn Blomdahl and Dick Jaspers) and 3 World Championship titles.

However, since leaving PBA to return to UMB, Frederic Caudron is still on his way to conquering the top. The player nicknamed "genius" chose the Ho Chi Minh City World Cup (May 2024) as the milestone for his comeback. At the tournament held in Vietnam, Caudron reached the quarter-finals. At the Porto Billiards World Cup taking place in July 2024 in Portugal, Frederic Caudron reached the semi-finals, before losing to world number 1 Dick Jaspers.

The Belgian genius was very close to winning the championship title for the first time since returning to UMB. Caudron reached the final of the Veghel Billiards World Cup - Netherlands in October 2025. But against the number 1 Vietnamese player Tran Quyet Chien, who was in good form, Caudron was defeated with a score of 38-50 and only finished as runner-up. In the final World Cup in 2024 held in Sharm el Sheikh - Egypt in December, Frederic Caudron reached the quarter-finals and lost to the veteran Italian player Marco Zanetti (who later won the championship).

Tran Quyet Chien is on the same board as Bao Phuong Vinh.

The 2025 Carom Billiards World Cup in Bogota (Colombia) will take place from February 24 to March 2. Accordingly, there are 5 Vietnamese players competing in the first round of the World Cup in 2025, including: Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, Chiem Hong Thai and Tran Duc Minh. Of these, Duc Minh must play from the final qualifying round; the remaining 4 players will be given special permission to compete from the main round (round of 32).

At this point, the main round of the Bogota 2025 Billiards World Cup has been determined. Most notably, the appearance of two Vietnamese players in the same group. Accordingly, Tran Quyet Chien's first opponent in group D is his junior Bao Phuong Vinh.
