Drivers excited when Vung Ang - Bung expressway opens

(Baohatinh.vn) - With the Vung Ang - Bung expressway put into operation, the North - South expressway through Ha Tinh has been opened, drivers are excited to shorten travel time.

From 8:00 a.m. on August 28, the 55.34 km long Vung Ang - Bung expressway connecting Ha Tinh with Quang Tri was officially put into operation. According to Ha Tinh Newspaper reporters, after being exploited, from 8am to 12pm on August 28, the traffic on the Vung Ang - Bung expressway was smooth and clear.

Vehicles are allowed to travel on the Vung Ang - Bung expressway at a maximum speed of 90km/h and a minimum speed of 60km/h.

Although it was the first day of operation, in general, drivers strictly followed the rules and regulations when participating in traffic on the route.

Drivers are excited to travel on the highway through Ha Tinh to Quang Tri and vice versa because it shortens travel time and distance compared to before when traveling on National Highway 1.

“According to the estimate, the travel time from Hai Phong to Quang Tri takes 14 hours, however, when the highway is completely open, it only takes us about 10 hours. I am really happy that the country's traffic infrastructure is increasingly synchronized and modern”, Mr. Vu Quang Tuong (born in 1981, residing in Hai Phong City) shared.

At the investment phase, the Vung Ang - Bung expressway has 4 lanes, no emergency lane, and a number of emergency stopping strips are arranged with a distance of 4 - 5 km/point.

However, there are still some drivers who do not know that the Vung Ang - Bung expressway has been put into operation, so when moving to the intersection of National Highway 12C, they still seem quite confused in moving, some vehicles even stop for quite a while to "consider" before allowing the vehicle to move.

Besides, there is a situation where some people walk on the main route of Vung Ang - Bung highway, causing traffic insecurity.

With the Vung Ang - Bung Expressway being put into operation, the 750 km long North - South Expressway from Hanoi to Da Nang has been opened. The open expressway will contribute to promoting socio-economic development of localities and regions by shortening travel time, reducing transportation costs, and connecting trade effectively.

The Vung Ang - Bung section project is about 55.34 km long, passing through Ha Tinh province (12.9 km) and Quang Binh - now Quang Tri (42.44 km), started in January 2023 with a total investment of 12,548 billion VND. To date, this project has completed the main route.

The project has its starting point at Km 658+200, in Ky Tan commune, old Ky Anh district (now Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province) connecting with the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section component project; the end point is about Km 624+228.79 in Cu Nam commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province (now Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province) connecting with the Bung - Van Ninh section component project.

On the route there are 2 interconnecting intersections including: Tien Chau - Van Hoa intersection (about Km 597+900), National Highway 12A intersection (about Km 605+500).

At the investment phase, the expressway has 4 lanes, no emergency lane, and a number of emergency stops are arranged every 4-5 km/point with a roadbed width of 17 m, and a design speed of 60-90 km/h.
