Regarding the report about the movie “Let Me Shine” containing the image of the “cow tongue line,” two companies, Tencent Holdings Limited and Image Future Investment (HK) Limited, were requested by the management in Vietnam to temporarily stop showing the movie online due to not explaining as requested.

Specifically, the Department of Cinema has sent document No. 1551/DA-VP to the two above-mentioned companies to request additional reports and related records and documents. These documents are to determine whether the two companies are qualified to continue classifying (age labeling, determining legality) films shown on cyberspace on their platforms.

Required documents include: Report on organizational structure, operating model, legal relationship between Tencent Holdings Limited and Image Future Investment (HK) Limited, specific plan on requesting recognition of eligibility to classify popular movies on cyberspace in Vietnam according to regulations.

The Department of Cinema requested the company to send detailed reports and explanations as mentioned above, and confirm the request to temporarily stop distribution.

Previously, on October 2, the online series “Let Me Shine” was discovered to have the image of the “cow tongue line” in episode 16. According to the reporter, the audience discovered it through some pirated movie sites.

At this time, Vietnam has 5 legal platforms that are broadcasting episode 15 and have not yet aired episode 16. The broadcasting format is released in parallel with the domestic market.

Then on the morning of October 3, the Cinema Department announced that this was a violation under Article 9 of the current Cinema Law and issued a document requesting 5 responsible companies to report and explain. After that, 4/5 of the total number of companies reported and removed the entire series within the required time limit.

In order to control issues related to online film screening, the Department of Cinema established an Inspection Team on compliance with regulations on film dissemination on cyberspace. Deputy Director Do Quoc Viet is the head of the team./.
