In the condolence book at the People's Committee of Pho Khanh commune, there is a line of words to bid farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong, stating, "Deeply regretting the passing of former President Tran Duc Luong. Uncle Luong! In 1995, my house collapsed after a storm. Fortunately, thanks to your help, I had a new house to live in in 1996. A war invalid like me, no longer able to work, without your help, who knows when I would have been able to provide a roof for my wife and children. Deeply regretting Uncle"...
That line is from war invalid Pham Van Nuoi, as if recounting the memory of the day he met former President Tran Duc Luong.
War invalid Pham Van Nuoi wrote emotional lines in the condolence book.
He said: “At the end of that year, my house was devastated after the storm. Comrade Tran Duc Luong and his wife came to visit and encourage my family. Seeing my family's situation, he directed the authorities at all levels to pay attention and support us in building a house of gratitude. In 1996, I had a new house. That house is still sturdy to this day.”
Mr. Pham Van Nuoi was 73 years old, his health was declining, his left leg was completely paralyzed, his right leg was getting weaker and weaker, and he was sick. He rarely left home, but when he heard that former President Tran Duc Luong had passed away, he was determined to ask his children and grandchildren to take him to the People's Committee Hall of Pho Khanh Commune with the wish to light incense and bid farewell to a benefactor of his family returning to his homeland.
