Strengthening defense cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia

On the afternoon of September 18, in Hanoi, Major General Nguyen Ba Luc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, received Lieutenant General Nim Balene, Director of the Department of Operations, General Command of the Royal Cambodian Army.

Major General Nguyen Ba Luc emphasized the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia; affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives top priority to continuously consolidating and developing the relationship of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" with Cambodia; thanked the Cambodian People's Party, the State and the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia for sending a high-ranking delegation to attend the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the military bloc participating in the parade at the ceremony.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army expressed his pleasure at the fact that the Vietnam-Cambodia defense cooperation has continued to develop in recent times, becoming one of the important pillars of the bilateral relationship, prominent in the following areas: Exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; Defense Policy Dialogue mechanism, consultation, information exchange; training; management and protection of land and sea borders; exchanges and twinning; propaganda about the solidarity and friendship between the two countries; search and repatriation of martyrs' remains; mutual assistance and aid; coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums. Major General Nguyen Ba Luc highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two Operations Departments in recent times, especially in the following areas: Exchange of professional experience, coordination in research, grasping, assessing, forecasting the situation, promptly advising and proposing to the Ministry of Defense of each country on strategic policies and solutions.

Major General Nguyen Ba Luc suggested that in the coming time, the two agencies continue to coordinate in sharing information, grasping the situation, and effectively advising leaders at all levels; at the same time, advising on the effective implementation of the contents of the 2025 Cooperation Plan between the two countries' Ministries of National Defense. The Deputy Chief of the General Staff affirmed that the leaders of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army always support and create favorable conditions for the two Operations Departments to strengthen cooperation, contributing to further deepening the defense cooperation relationship between the two countries.

Lieutenant General Nim Balene thanked the leaders of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army for taking the time to receive him; reported the results of the talks between the Department of Operations of the two countries' Defense Ministries. Regarding the cooperation situation in the past time, the two sides have maintained exchanges on the situation of various types of crimes, and exchanged professional experiences to ensure security and order in the border areas of the two countries. In the coming time, the two sides will continue to promote the work of searching, gathering and repatriating martyrs who died in Cambodia; and joint patrols to maintain a peaceful , cooperative and developed border.
