TCL showcases world's largest microLED TV

Previously on March 8, ITHome said that TCL had launched the X11H Max TV using a microLED panel up to 163 inches with a price equivalent to 2.8 billion VND. TCL's TV model for the super-rich can reach a brightness of up to 10,000 nits, meeting the maximum brightness level of the current HDR standard, the screen surface has 24.88 million inorganic LED chips as pixels, achieving 4K resolution.

TCL says the TV has a nanosecond response time, beating the fastest OLED panels at 0.03 milliseconds. It has a 22-bit color depth and a lifespan of over 100,000 hours, which equates to over 27 years of operation. The built-in audio system includes a 6-2-2 multi-channel speaker solution and 7-1-4 when combined with a soundbar.

The value of microLED TVs is high because the cost of manufacturing this panel is much higher than OLED. At CES 2024 (USA), TCL said that each inch of microLED panel has been reduced to 650 - 750 USD.

So a 75-inch microLED panel typically costs around $50,000 to produce. Because of the high cost, microLED TVs are currently still mainly for the B2B market or the super-rich.

Even though the TCL X11H Max has the best price point when compared to Samsung and LG's biggest MicroLED TV offerings, microLED technology is still less accessible to the masses than OLED TVs.
