King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and the Thai Red Cross Society have piloted the use of robots to speed up administrative procedures at the outpatient department in an effort to improve public services at hospitals.
According to Bangkok Post, Director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Associate Professor, Dr. Chanchai Sittipunt, said that five of these robots, called Mr. SAM, will begin to be deployed from March this year.
The robots will take over some of the tasks involved in patient registration as they are equipped with cameras to assist with the check-in process and can also provide basic information about the hospital.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Kornkiat Sanitwong, Deputy Director of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, assessed that robots play an increasingly important role in daily life, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to helping reduce the risk of infection and reduce the workload of medical staff and doctors.
