Government Inspectorate responds to petition of An Giang voters

After the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly, voters in An Giang province reflected on the frequent increase in electricity prices, which greatly affected their lives; and requested inspection, review and examination to avoid the current situation of electricity price increases. The Government Inspectorate has responded in writing to the petition of voters in An Giang province.

In Document No. 2321/BC-TTCP dated September 24, 2025 reporting the results of handling and responding to the petitions of voters of An Giang province, the Government Inspectorate said that it had conducted an inspection of the compliance with policies and laws in the management, implementation of planning and investment in construction of power projects according to Power Plan VII and the adjusted Power Plan VII.

Thereby, pointing out violations related to consulting on mechanisms and policies related to applying preferential electricity prices to some projects that are not suitable for the subjects; on electricity purchase prices; adjusting electricity purchase prices after competent state agencies audit investment capital, building electricity generation price frameworks, etc.

Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently seeking comments to complete the draft decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 72/2025/ND-CP , dated March 28, 2025 of the Government regulating the mechanism and time for adjusting average retail electricity prices to increase transparency, timeliness and convenience in calculating and adjusting electricity prices.

At the same time, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade (in charge of the sector and field) and the Ministry of Finance (representing the state capital owner at Vietnam Electricity Group) to strengthen inspection and supervision of electricity prices. Based on the inspection and supervision results of the agencies and according to the assigned functions and tasks, the Government Inspectorate will grasp the situation. If there are signs of law violations, it will make recommendations and proposals to the Prime Minister on orientation and develop an inspection plan according to regulations.
