Removing difficulties for bank loan customers affected by storm damage

On the evening of September 11, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, chaired a working session with credit institutions and credit institution branches in the area to discuss and agree on a plan to remove difficulties for customers who are borrowing capital and are affected by storm No. 3.

At the meeting, a representative of the State Bank of Vietnam, Quang Ninh branch, informed that according to statistics, as of September 10, more than 11,000 customers in the area with a total outstanding debt of VND 10,654 billion were severely affected by the consequences of storm No. 3. Among them, many customers are participating in the aquaculture sector.

In order to promptly stabilize banking operations and support customers to overcome difficulties and restore production and business, following the direction of the State Bank of Vietnam , the State Bank branch in Quang Ninh province directed credit institutions in the area to deploy solutions to support customers to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.

At the meeting, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy - Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, requested credit institutions and credit institution branches in the province to share difficulties and losses with the locality.

Thereby, there are appropriate support policies for customers facing difficulties due to the impact of storm No. 3. At the same time, restructuring the term and maintaining the debt group for customers borrowing capital affected and damaged by storm No. 3.

In addition, consider exempting or reducing loan interest for damaged customers as well as studying the possibility of continuing to lend new loans to customers to restore production and business after the storm according to current regulations. Implement debt settlement and risk management according to current regulations for customers who have suffered heavy damage and are unable to pay.

Mr. Cao Tuong Huy said that Quang Ninh province will have its own, comprehensive policy to support people and businesses affected by the storm. In particular, focusing on the following areas: Aquaculture; Agriculture and forestry; Service, tourism and trade business households; Households related to industrial and handicraft production according to current regulations.
