In Spain, the average temperature in June is 23.6 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature ever recorded in a day in June was 37.9 degrees Celsius, on June 30. In France, the temperature sometimes reached 40 degrees Celsius. More than 1,300 schools in this country have had to close partially or completely. The Eiffel Tower in the capital Paris also temporarily stopped accepting visitors in the first days of July.

Meanwhile, 17 major cities in Italy are experiencing a heat wave, with Florence reaching temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius. Portugal recorded a record high of 46.6 degrees Celsius in the town of Mora, west of Lisbon, on June 29. The Czech Republic is also suffering the same fate while Türkiye is struggling with forest fires.

In Asia, the Japan Meteorological Agency said the average temperature in June was 2.34 degrees Celsius higher than the average for the year. In mid-June, many places in Japan recorded temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. South Korea has also been experiencing a heat wave in recent days, with temperatures in many cities surpassing their June record highs at times.
