On July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam. Vu Dinh Thai, a 12A1 student at Tay Thuy Anh High School, Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province, was overwhelmed with emotion when he learned that he was the valedictorian of the A00 block nationwide.

Vu Dinh Thai Dat's exam scores were 10 in physics, 10 in chemistry and 9.6 in math. For the remaining subjects, his score was 8 in literature, 8.75 in biology and 9.6 in English.

When he knew he was the valedictorian of block A00 nationwide, Thai himself was very surprised. Before the exam, Thai only thought that he would strive to do his best and did not set a goal of being valedictorian.

“Before the exam, I just thought about trying my best and hoping to get a high score, but I didn't think that I would be the top student in the A00 group nationwide. When I heard the news, I was quite surprised and very happy,” said the top student in the A00 group nationwide.

Thai shared that he lost his mother when he was in 7th grade. He also has an older brother who is also a good student. While studying at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, his brother had to drop out halfway, right at the time when his mother was seriously ill.

After that, Thai's brother continued to study at Thai Binh Medical College and is now working at a private hospital in Thai Binh city.

His mother died early, leaving Thai's father, Mr. Vu Dinh Ruat, residing in Duong Phuc commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, alone to raise his children, but always encouraged his two sons to try hard in their studies.

Excellent students in the eyes of teachers

Speaking about his student Vu Dinh Thai, Mr. Quach Dinh Luong, Principal of Tay Thuy Anh High School, proudly said: “Thai is an excellent student in all areas, from physical education to arts, chess… Thai is good at everything. Before the exam, the teachers in the school said that with Thai’s ability, Thai would most likely be valedictorian and that became true.”

At the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam, Vu Dinh Thai also took the lead with 96.43/100 points. This exam had about 20,000 candidates participating in the assessment.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Nhan, homeroom teacher for 3 years of high school of the valedictorian of block A00 nationwide, shared: "In class, Thai was the class union secretary. Thai was a quiet student but very agile. In almost every exam, Thai got high scores and almost perfect scores."

The male student from the rice fields said that he does not have any secret study secrets. In class, he just tries to listen to the teachers and follow the curriculum well. At home, he studies by himself and looks for more materials on the internet and in textbooks.

Sharing about his upcoming plans, Thai said: “I don’t know which school I will choose yet, but I will study information technology. I have also asked my father and teachers for their opinions, but I have not decided yet.”
