MU hopes to end the Andre Onana nightmare by spending 18.5 million pounds (21 million euros; not including future add-ons) to bring Senne Lammens to Old Trafford.

However, before Lammens had a chance to officially debut, fans were left scratching their heads: a video compilation of the 23-year-old goalkeeper's "occupational accident" suddenly went viral on social network X (formerly Twitter), like a trailer for a tragedy.

In the clip, Lammens runs out of the goal like he's taking a walk, letting the cross fly over his head and the goalpost opens wide like... an unlocked shop.

In another situation, the low shot was just within his reach but he only had time to look, not bothering to dive; or a simple finishing situation became dangerous when Lammens passed the ball to his opponent to kick the rebound...

United fans immediately went crazy on X: “Onana 2.0” , “Onana update” , “Relegation is imminent” …, some fans even called him “Onana Pro Max” .

Many loyal MU fans are worried that a tragicomedy is being written, only with a different main character.

MU once had a choice named Emiliano Dibu Martinez - a 2022 World Cup champion, a goalkeeper who knows how to growl and laugh at opponents.

But in the end, they chose a player who has never played for Belgium, has played 4 matches this season in Antwerp, and conceded 4 goals.

The home team finished in fifth place last season. That is a reassuring record for the Old Trafford goal.

To be fair, there were still brave fans who stood up to defend Lammens, posting videos online of his diving saves.

They remind: every goalkeeper has his moments of error, but his hands can also stop certain goals. The problem is, those images are too few compared to the "missed tackles" that are going viral.

As if to add to the tragedy, the face of Lammens' representative at the contract signing ceremony made many fans mistakenly think it was... Erik ten Hag.

Indeed, if you look at the small photos, Mark Volders – Lammens' agent (also the most famous face in the team he manages) – looks like a twin brother to the coach who was just fired by Leverkusen .

A scary illusion for MU fans: Ten Hag, the coach who once fell out with Onana – and who also brought him from Inter Milan – has now reappeared in a different form, continuing to haunt the "Red Devils" goal.

MU dreamed of a new era, but then saw the shadow of the past appear. The fans, with a sigh, could only whisper: Old Trafford is not without tragedy, it only lacks a goalkeeper to protect the goal.
