Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai appointed as Secretary of Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee

(Dan Tri) - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Minister of National Defense, has just been appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

On the morning of September 30, at the 1st Congress of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo 's decision to appoint the Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee.

Accordingly, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense , was appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

The Politburo also decided to mobilize, assign, and appoint Mr. Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, to join the Central Military Commission for the 2025-2030 term. Mr. Gau will continue to preside over the Congress until the Congress completes its contents.

According to the decision of the Politburo, the Executive Committee of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term consists of 71 members; the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee consists of 18 members.

The Deputy Secretaries of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee include Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Standing Deputy Secretary), Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan (Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee), and Mr. Nguyen Viet Oanh (Chairman of the Provincial People's Council).

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai (born in 1969, from Hung Yen province). He is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and a delegate of the 14th National Assembly.

Mr. Thai has held the following positions: Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Phu Tho Provincial Military Party Committee, Commander of the Phu Tho Provincial Military Command.

In September 2016, he was appointed Deputy Commander of Military Region 2.

In July 2018, Mr. Thai became Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 2. After that, Mr. Thai was assigned as Commander of the Hanoi Capital Command.

Mr. Thai held the position of Commander of Military Region 1 from October 2019 to March 2024.

In April, the Prime Minister appointed Mr. Thai to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense until he was appointed as Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee.
