Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrives in Kunming, begins work in China

(Dan Tri) - Kunming is the first stop for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation on their working trip to China. He will attend conferences and work in China for 4 days.
At 10:00 a.m. on November 5, the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation landed at Changshui Airport in Kunming (China). During his four-day stay in China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend three multilateral conferences in Kunming and Chongqing; hold bilateral meetings with several important partners. The Prime Minister will also participate in activities promoting Vietnamese tourism, hold talks with businesses; and visit several economic and logistic facilities in Kunming and Chongqing. The head of the Vietnamese government will attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit from November 5 to 8, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also attend the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit, the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Summit and work in China. Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai said that Yunnan province is geographically close, bordering the northwestern provinces of Vietnam, and is also a gateway connecting China with South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. In recent years, exchanges and cooperation between Yunnan province and Vietnamese localities have been strongly promoted. Cooperation between the two sides in border management, traffic connection, border gate and opening development, culture, sports and tourism... has also achieved many important results. Especially in economic and trade cooperation, Yunnan province and Vietnamese localities have coordinated to promote trade, facilitate customs clearance, and remove difficulties in import and export activities. In the first 8 months of 2024, two-way trade turnover between Yunnan and Vietnam reached 2.09 billion USD, an increase of 30.31% over the same period. In the coming time, Ambassador Pham Sao Mai emphasized that Yunnan province and Vietnamese localities will continue to expand and improve the effectiveness of cooperation in areas such as delegation exchanges, economic - trade - investment, border gate development, traffic connection, border management, tourism ... Regarding Chongqing city, the Ambassador said that this is an important economic development center of the Western region of China with 4 outstanding advantages. Chongqing is a city directly under the Central Government, so it has a proactive and effective policy-making mechanism. In addition, Chongqing has a high economic openness and is a transportation and logistics center and a main transit point of the international railway route from China to Europe. Chongqing is also one of China's leading industrial production centers, especially in automobile and electronics manufacturing. At the same time, with a long cultural history, Chongqing city also has many rich tourism resources. With Vietnam, Chongqing has a long-standing traditional friendship, and cooperation between Vietnam and Chongqing has achieved many positive results. Since 2019, Vietnam has continuously been Chongqing's largest trade partner in ASEAN. In the first 7 months of 2024, import-export turnover between Vietnam and Chongqing reached 3.03 billion USD. Regarding investment, as of the end of July 2024, Vietnam had 5 investment projects in Chongqing with a total investment capital of 8.1 million USD; while Chongqing had 22 investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of 296 million USD. Ambassador Pham Sao Mai said that Vietnam and Chongqing still have a lot of potential to promote cooperation; Strengthen strategic connectivity, infrastructure, and effectively exploit the international railway route from Chongqing to European countries to facilitate the export of Vietnamese goods to third countries.
