Pleased to meet President Cyril Ramaphosa again, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed the regards of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to the South African President.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam considers South Africa a leading important partner in the African region, highly appreciates South Africa's position and prestige in the international and regional arena, including its role as Chair of the Group of 20 (G20) in 2025, and wishes to further promote the " Partnership for Cooperation and Development" relationship between Vietnam and South Africa.
The Prime Minister said that Vietnam and South Africa still have much room to complement each other and deepen their comprehensive cooperation, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, education and training, tourism and people-to-people exchange, thereby creating momentum to lift the relationship to a new height. The Prime Minister thanked South Africa for inviting high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to attend the G20 Summit and respectfully invited the South African President to visit Vietnam soon.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa conveyed his regards to General Secretary To Lam and Vietnamese leaders, emphasizing that the phone call between the President and General Secretary To Lam last April was very important, contributing to deepening the relationship between the two Parties and two countries.
The South African President highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and affirmed that South Africa highly values the traditional friendship that was nurtured by the leaders and people of the two countries during the struggle against colonialism and apartheid and continues to be consolidated and developed in the development of the two countries today. The South African President expressed his wish to visit Vietnam soon in 2025.
The two sides discussed major orientations for developing relations, agreed to jointly study and sign agreements and legal frameworks to promote economic cooperation, strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, defense and security, and at the same time study the possibility of expanding cooperation to other potential fields such as energy, mining, sustainable use of resources, infrastructure development and climate change response.
On this occasion, the two leaders exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern, affirming their common commitment to promoting multilateralism, respecting international law and promoting South-South cooperation.
