The discussion session, coordinated by the Vietnam Trade Office in collaboration with the WFI 2025 Organizing Committee, attracted the participation of leading experts and businesses from Vietnam and India, focusing on finding breakthrough solutions to: emphasize Vietnam's strategic priorities in sustainable food processing, carbon emission reduction and innovation-based growth.
Speakers and event organizers
In his opening remarks, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Vietnam in India, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the context of countries and businesses striving to develop sustainable production models and reduce carbon emissions. He affirmed that the discussion session was a golden opportunity for the business communities of the two countries to share experiences, seek connection opportunities and create new initiatives to contribute to the global supply chain.
Mr. Bui Trung Thuong - Commercial Counselor delivered the opening speech of the discussion session.
At the event, Vietnamese speakers brought practical models, typically the presentation “Turning waste into wealth” by Vietnam Food Joint Stock Company (VNF). VNF’s circular economy shrimp by-product recycling model not only helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also opens up new value chains for the seafood industry and many other fields. This solution is especially meaningful for both Vietnam and India (the world’s two leading shrimp exporting powers) in dealing with the challenge of by-product treatment and the risk of carbon tax when exporting, especially to high-standard markets like the EU.
Mr. Phan Thanh Loc – Chairman, Vietnam Food Company
The speakers presented bilateral cooperation opportunities in technology transfer, renewable energy integration, sustainable packaging development and value chain development. Promoting business partnerships by showcasing success stories of Vietnamese enterprises, typically companies from Ho Chi Minh City, with potential to expand into Indian and global markets; Aligning with global agendas such as carbon neutrality (net zero), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and building responsible food value chains; Facilitating policy and industry dialogue between the government, trade promotion agencies such as the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) and businesses from both countries
The discussion session was attended by Vietnamese companies in the food processing industry: Mr. Phan Thanh Loc – Chairman, Vietnam Food Company, Mr. Ryan Hoang – Export Director, Bao Hung Food Company Limited; Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi – Sales Director, My Phuong Food Company Limited and many other businesses.
The success of the panel discussion organized by the Vietnam Trade Office in India is expected to create a strong momentum, encourage investment and inspire bilateral cooperation solutions. This will not only strengthen the Vietnam-India partnership but also contribute to building a more sustainable and resilient food ecosystem in Asia and globally.
