Pangyo High-Tech Valley: A new bridge of cooperation between Vietnam and Korea

The visit and working session at Pangyo High-Tech Valley by the high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam not only opened up many new cooperation opportunities in the field of science, technology and innovation (S&I), but also contributed to consolidating and deepening the friendly, trustworthy and comprehensive cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

Within the framework of the State visit of General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation to Korea, on August 12, 2025, the high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission , Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Science and Technology Development, Innovation and Digital Transformation (S&T, I&D), visited and worked at Pangyo High-Tech Valley - Korea's leading I&D Center. At the meeting, the delegation was introduced to the development model, strategic orientation and innovation ecosystem in Pangyo - where nearly 2,000 high-tech enterprises, research centers and venture capital funds are concentrated. The two sides had in-depth discussions on the possibility of cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, smart cities, as well as the mechanism for connecting businesses and technology incubators between Vietnam and Korea.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc highly appreciated the role of Pangyo High-Tech Valley in promoting innovation, and affirmed that Vietnam considers science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as one of the important driving forces for rapid and sustainable development. He expressed his hope that in the coming time, Vietnam and Korea will strengthen cooperation between localities, agencies, research institutes and enterprises of the two countries.

At the meeting, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi also exchanged and learned from the Korean side's experiences in building High-Tech Valleys, Free Economic Zones, smart city systems and smart urban areas.

In particular, during this working trip to Gyeonggi-do province and Pangyo High-Tech Valley, the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA) played an important role in coordinating the organization, connecting the schedule and working content of the delegation here, while promoting direct cooperation between enterprises and technology organizations of the two countries. In the future, the VKBIA will also continue to promote cooperation between localities of the two countries with key priority areas as discussed by the delegation.

On this occasion, Mr. Kim Tae Hyoung, Commissioner in charge of Smart Cities - Environment, Science and Technology for the Future, shared with the delegation about the experience in governance, operation and development of Smart Cities, application of high science and technology for economic and social development in the locality in particular and Korea in general. The leaders of Pangyo High-Tech Valley expressed their willingness to support Vietnam in sharing experiences, training high-tech human resources, connecting startup ecosystems and cooperating in research and development.
