At the workshop, managers and experts shared and proposed appropriate solutions to promote socio -economic development of Phong Dien ward.

Phong Dien Ward has 55,704 hectares of agricultural and forestry land, accounting for 94% of the natural area. This is a solid foundation for developing high-value crops such as pomelo, green-skinned grapefruit, planting large timber forests with FSC certification, planting multi-purpose forests oriented towards carbon credits according to VERA and Plan VIVO standards as assessed by TUV NORD. In particular, with a list of 526 medicinal plant species, including 27 rare species, Phong Dien is qualified to become the "capital" of medicinal plants under the forest canopy. In addition, Phong Dien also has potentials and advantages in industry, services, and tourism to promote local socio-economic development.

Besides the advantages, Phong Dien still has challenges and "bottlenecks" such as: fragmented production methods; limited internal capacity; inadequate mechanisms and management...

At the conference forum, Dr. Ho Dac Thai Hoang, Chairman of the Union of Associations, shared some orientations and strategies to create breakthroughs for Phong Dien to develop its economy quickly and sustainably, building a ward that meets the standards of a "civilized urban area" according to the Resolution of the 1st Ward Party Congress, term 2025-2030. That is, it is necessary to create a revolution in agriculture with high technology; consolidate and modernize the collective economy; develop digital human resources and administrative reform... To do these things, it is necessary to have the drastic participation of the entire political system, the synchronous coordination between the government, scientists, businesses and people.

Many models of medicinal plant cultivation and processing thanks to the application of science and technology have been deployed in Phong Dien.

At the workshop, a number of presentations by managers and experts also mentioned the following contents: Action program to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation; potential advantages and some difficulties that need to be resolved for socio-economic development in Phong Dien ward; introducing successfully implemented organic agricultural models and proposing some solutions to develop the model locally; introducing some effective models of developing medicinal resources under forest canopy that can be deployed and applied locally; applying the transfer of citrus fruit growing processes suitable to natural conditions...

The opinions and proposals at the workshop will be an important basis for shaping specific solutions, helping science - technology and innovation truly become "breakthroughs", bringing Phong Dien ward's socio-economic development quickly, sustainably and soon reaching civilized urban standards.
