The visit of Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bin Bol Hassan takes place in the context of Vietnam - Brunei relations continuing to maintain positive development momentum.
Defense cooperation is a bright spot in the overall relationship between the two countries.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong said the talks were an opportunity for the two sides to have frank exchanges, thereby reaching common understanding, contributing to the increasingly practical and effective development of the cooperative relationship between the two countries' armies.
At the talks, the two sides discussed the world and regional situation and issues of mutual concern. General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized the important role of ASEAN in shaping and maintaining the regional security structure, promoting substantive cooperation between member countries, as well as between ASEAN and its partners.




General Nguyen Tan Cuong highly appreciated the strategic document “ADMM and ADMM+ ready for the future” developed by Brunei and Singapore, which was approved by the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM) in 2024, and the initiative “Underwater Critical Infrastructure Security” jointly proposed by Brunei, Singapore and Thailand in 2025.
Regarding the situation in the East Sea, Vietnam hopes that Brunei will continue to coordinate to promote ASEAN's stance of resolving all disagreements in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); fully and effectively implementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), promptly concluding negotiations and signing an effective and efficient Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his delight at the results of military and defense cooperation. The two sides exchanged delegations at all levels; consultation mechanisms between the two countries' navies and air forces. The two countries sent ships to visit, exchange and share expertise; training; consulted and supported each other at multilateral forums, especially ASEAN-led mechanisms and international events organized by each side.
In the coming time, General Nguyen Tan Cuong suggested that the two sides maintain the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, and cooperation mechanisms such as consultations between military services and joint working groups on military and defense cooperation.


The two countries' armies need to promote training cooperation; expand cooperation in potential areas such as defense industry, logistics, military medicine, search and rescue, counter-terrorism, and cyber security; continue to closely consult and support each other at multilateral mechanisms, forums, and international events organized by each side.
Meanwhile, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bin Bol Hassan shared his good impressions of Vietnam as well as the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2022 that he attended.
He congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. He expressed his admiration for the important and comprehensive achievements that Vietnam has made over the past 80 years, as well as its increasingly high position in the international arena.

Highly agreeing with the contents raised by General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bin Bol Hassan said that the two sides can research and develop new areas of cooperation with potential and demand, thereby contributing to further promoting defense cooperation.

Previously, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bin Bol Hassan visited the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.
