On December 8, 177 villages and residential areas of 21 communes and wards in Hai Duong city simultaneously held community conferences to elect village and residential area heads for the 2024-2027 term.

This is the first term that Hai Duong City organized a community conference and elected village and residential area chiefs in one day.

Residential area No. 10, Tan Binh ward is divided into 2 election clusters, of which 1 cluster will hold the election of the residential area chief on the evening of December 8 to suit the actual situation in the locality.

Of these, 142 villages and residential areas held elections in the morning; 35 villages and residential areas held elections in the afternoon and evening. As a result, the villages and residential areas elected 168 village and residential area chiefs.

Although it was cold, people were still excited to go to the polls.

There are 7 villages and residential areas in 5 communes and wards in Lien Hong, Ngoc Son, Nam Dong, Ngoc Chau and Tan Hung where the number of households voting did not reach over 50%; these localities will switch to distributing ballots to collect opinions.

There are 2 residential areas that held elections but the elected candidates were not elected, the locality will hold a re-election.

In Hai Duong city, most of the elected village and residential area chiefs have a high consensus rate.

Previously, Hai Duong City selected Tu Minh ward to organize the election of village and residential area chiefs as a pilot to gain experience on October 27. Two localities, Le Thanh Nghi ward, will organize the election of residential area chiefs on December 22 because they have just merged and are completing procedures to change the names of some residential areas; Tien Tien commune will organize the election of village chiefs in February 2025 because the term of village chiefs will end at this time.
