In 2023, the City People's Committee promptly directed and issued documents to effectively implement the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the city and the movement "For the poor - No one is left behind". The total budget for implementing support policies for the poor is more than 186 billion VND; development investment capital and career capital for projects and sub-projects have disbursed more than 10.1 billion VND. As a result, by the end of 2023, the number of poor households was 523, accounting for 0.97% of households.

Promoting the achieved results, in 2024, the city continues to identify sustainable poverty reduction as a key task, continue to promote propaganda and education , raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and the whole society, especially the people, to create a strong change in awareness and action in sustainable poverty reduction, and use the supported capital for the right purpose. Implement well, fully and promptly the social security policies of the Party and State for the poor and people affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, mobilize and create more resources from the social community to help and support the poor.
On this occasion, the City People's Committee awarded 7 collectives and 13 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing poverty reduction work and the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction in 2023.
