The heart of a border soldier lives among the people

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In the border of the Fatherland, there are soldiers wearing green uniforms who stay there day and night, both to guard the sovereignty of the border and to be a support for people to escape poverty. Living among the people, not only to be close to the people, to help the people, but also to understand the people and to be protected and loved by the people. That is the truth that every officer and soldier of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station always keeps in mind.

Officers and soldiers of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station used stretchers to carry people injured in storm No. 5 to the hospital for treatment.

Yen Khuong Border Guard Station is located in Yen Khuong commune, assigned to manage and protect 6.73km of border line. Before the days of storm No. 5, the station mobilized 36 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and forces stationed in the area to propagate, mobilize and support the evacuation of 22 households/102 people at high risk of landslides in the area. Due to prolonged heavy rain, many landslides occurred in Yen Khuong commune, causing traffic congestion.

In Xang Hang village, many households suffered landslides and collapsed houses, including the family of Mr. Lo Van Bang and his wife, Ms. Ngan Thi Thu. The landslide from the hill down due to storm No. 5 completely collapsed their house, buried their property, Mr. Bang was injured on the face and head, and Ms. Thu suffered pain on her right side. After the incident, the commander of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station sent medical staff to provide first aid to Mr. Bang and Ms. Thu, then Yen Khuong Border Guard Station sent troops to use a stretcher to carry Ms. Thu over about 30km of the landslide-affected road for examination and treatment at a higher-level hospital... The image of muddy footsteps, hands tightly holding the stretcher and the loving eyes of the border guards left a deep impression on the people.

Identifying that “The station is home, the border is homeland, and ethnic people are blood brothers”, in recent years, officers and soldiers of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station have deployed economic models for the people that are suitable to the local climate and soil conditions. Up to now, the models that the unit has supported to develop have brought about practical results and good income, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, opening up new directions in economic development for Yen Khuong people, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the commune.

In addition to helping households develop their economy, the green-uniformed soldiers of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station also propagate, mobilize, and guide people to practice a new cultural lifestyle. Up to now, 100% of households practice a civilized and healthy lifestyle, especially in filial piety and weddings. Households managed by Party members of the Border Guard Station have escaped poverty and always complied with the Party's policies, the State's policies and laws, and the locality's laws. No household has a member who violated the law and had to be punished.

With the task of protecting the border, 3 national border markers adjacent to Laos, to successfully complete the task of protecting border security and sovereignty, in recent years, the Party Committee and commander of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station have determined that "No one can protect the border better and more effectively than the local people", so every year, officers and soldiers of Yen Khuong Border Guard Station regularly coordinate with the militia and local people to patrol, control, clear the border, protect border markers; launch the movement "The masses participate in protecting the border, border markers, fight against and denounce crimes, prevent free migration, illegal proselytizing, actively participate in socio-economic development in the area under their responsibility". Along with that, the station commander has proactively directed officers and soldiers to grasp the internal and external border situation, coordinate and organize functional units to patrol and protect the border; Do a good job of immigration and emigration for people crossing the border, maintain solidarity and friendship between the people of the two border districts of Sam To (Laos) and Lang Chanh in the past.
