Awarding the Certificate of "The Fatherland's Gratitude" to Martyr Vo Thanh Van

(CT) - On the morning of July 23, at the Cultural House of Cu Lao Dung commune, the Can Tho City Military Command coordinated with the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Lao Dung commune to organize the ceremony to award the "Fatherland's gratitude" Certificate to martyr Vo Thanh Van to the martyr's family members.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, representatives of local leaders announced the Prime Minister 's decision to posthumously award the "Fatherland's Gratitude" Certificate to martyr Vo Thanh Van, to recognize and honor the hero's great sacrifice for the cause of national liberation, building and defending the country.

Martyr Vo Thanh Van, born in 1924, in An Thanh 2 commune, Long Phu district (now Cu Lao Dung commune, Can Tho city) in a peasant family with revolutionary tradition. In 1940, comrade Vo Thanh Van joined the revolution; in 1950, he sacrificed in the battle of Dap Da post, Cai Oanh hamlet, Tan Thanh commune, Long Phu district. The government and people honored and named the hamlet after Vo Thanh Van.
