A touching video about the power of motherly love in the natural world was recently recorded by a tourist at Kruger Nature Reserve, South Africa, showing the moment a young African buffalo was suddenly attacked by a lion.

At first, the lion easily overwhelmed the young buffalo thanks to its superior strength. However, the mother buffalo did not hesitate to rush in, using its horns to attack the lion to protect her child.

The fight did not stop there as the mother and child were quickly surrounded by a pride of lions.

Despite being alone in the face of overwhelming numbers and danger to her life, the mother buffalo still fought bravely, not abandoning her calf. In a seemingly hopeless situation, something unexpected happened.

The herd of buffalo suddenly appeared and fought against the pride of lions. The large and healthy adults in the herd surrounded the mother buffalo and her calf, forming a strong protective ring to protect them from predators.

A fierce battle ensued, and with overwhelming strength and numbers, the herd of African buffalo successfully repelled the pride of lions.

The African buffalo is one of the largest herbivores on the savannah, weighing between 500 and 1,000 kg, with some individuals reaching nearly 1.4 tons. They live in large herds, which can number in the hundreds. Despite their impressive size and strength, buffalo are still the favorite prey of lions.

To hunt buffalo, lions usually have to hunt in packs, coordinate to separate the prey from the herd and join forces to take down. Rarely can an adult male lion take down a large buffalo alone.

African buffaloes have the strength to fight off predators, but their timid nature often causes them to run away rather than confront them. Perhaps it was the mother buffalo’s extraordinary courage when facing a pride of lions alone that gave the herd the strength to return and fight, creating a happy ending to this dramatic story.
